Well, for example, you went to a cafe or are in some such place where there is free Wi-Fi, you connect to it and surf the Internet. But then some hacker took and scans the connection from you to the Wi-Fi source, looks at what you are doing there, what sites you are looking at .. There are two points here, the first is, if you use sites over HTTPS, then hackers will not see anything because it is a secure protocol. And the second point, in my practice, such open Wi-Fi networks are often not scanned by anyone. Yes, in theory it is possible, we can even say that it is very possible, because it is easy to do, but in practice I have not personally met this. I often connected to public Wi-Fi hotspots and never got hacked.

So what is Kaspersky Secure Connection? This is a small program that allows you to establish a secure VPN connection in a couple of seconds. But not everything is so smooth, there are restrictions, which means that in the free version you cannot choose a country, it is chosen by itself, and secondly, this is 200 MB, which are given to you in the free version. That is, 200 MB of free traffic per day, then the VPN no longer works, you need to buy. In principle, this is really not enough, it will do just to test the operation of Kaspersky Secure Connection.
I installed Kaspersky antivirus, rebooted, after which both the antivirus itself and the Kaspersky Secure Connection utility started up, here is its tray icon:
