What is good about decorative plaster fur coat?

In addition to remarkable aesthetic qualities, decorative plaster of a fur coat has heat-insulating, water-repellent and sound-insulating properties. This is one of the simplest and most popular types of interior and exterior decoration of building structures. A structured surface looks more original than a smooth one. Due to the rough texture, minor irregularities and chips are hidden on the plastered surfaces.

Such a coating is considered a suitable option for cladding walls exposed to high humidity. These are bathrooms, kitchens, plinths, facades of any buildings. Lime, which is part of decorative plaster, has good disinfection activity. Mold and mildew will not affect the structures on which this plaster is made.

In order for the finish to last for a long time, it is necessary to pre-prepare the surfaces, clean them from the remnants of previous coatings, dirt, dust, cobwebs. Fill up chips, cracks, unevenness of construction joints, remove greasy and bituminous spots. To ensure good adhesion, the surface must be rough. Special notches are made on a smooth wall.

A prerequisite is a primer. It makes it possible to strengthen the surface and improves the adhesion between the existing substrate and the decorative coating. The composition of the primer directly depends on the base material. Only after the impregnation is completely dry, you can start applying the fur coat.

Finishing methods

Do-it-yourself plastering under a fur coat can also be beautifully done by an amateur if you follow the instructions and recommendations of manufacturers and professional builders. It is not at all difficult to master the technology of applying such a finish. You can independently cover surfaces using a broom or brush, through a metal mesh or using a mechanical machine. You need to choose your own method and pre-train on small planes.

Throwing mortar onto the wall using a broom and a stick is acceptable for small areas. The method consists in the fact that the broom is dipped into the plaster mixture, a stick is placed under its handle, on which a blow is struck with the base of the broom towards the wall. The solution is sprayed onto the wall. To apply an even coat using this method, preliminary training is required. This method is simple in terms of tools, but not very fast. A brush with long bristles can be replaced by a broom. When using a broom, an average texture is formed, when using a brush, it is fine.

Mesh spraying has proven itself well. The size of the cells depends on the size of the desired texture. The mesh is stretched over a wooden frame, a solution is thrown through it with a trowel, the necessary decorative coating is formed on the wall.

The most effective way to apply plaster on a fur coat is achieved with a special machine. This automatic sprinkler allows you to quickly apply the mortar to the wall in an even layer. The principle of operation of the machine consists in the rotation of the plates inside the container with the solution, as a result of which the decorative plaster is evenly sprayed onto the surface. The unit is considered convenient to use, it needs regular washing and thorough cleaning.

Professional builders-finishers use a compressor, as a result of which the decorative plaster of the fur coat acquires a uniformly applied rounded texture. This device, pushing the solution to the surface under pressure generated by compressed air, allows you to perform a large amount of work in a short time.

Formation of texture

The texture is created immediately after applying the mixture using a plastic float or roller. The relief will appear more clearly after the surface dries.

A coarse texture is well suited for facades; for interior work, a fine-grained rough texture is in demand.

Tools with a soft fur surface create embossing with a fur coat effect on the plaster. A textured roller is rolled over the wet layer, creating a figured print on the wall due to the pile imprints. The process cannot be interrupted, you need to apply the solution from corner to corner. The larger the pile at the roller and the thicker the plaster layer, the more prominent the surface will be.

Coating with a fur coat can be painted with paint that corresponds to the operating conditions, and repainted several times. The spray gun, breaking the coloring composition into the smallest splashes, will evenly paint over the decorative relief and roughness of the plaster.

Finishing with a fur coat has high strength, long-term preservation of the brightness of the color palette, resistance to environmental influences, temperature and humidity extremes. It is able to hide underneath all microcracks, to mask minor defects on the walls. Possesses unique water-repellent properties.

The main disadvantage of such decorative plaster is the retention of dust, which is deeply embedded in the roughness of the coating.

There are cement-based dry plaster mixes on sale, which are sold in bags. They are mixed with water and, using a construction mixer, brought to a homogeneous mass. The mixture is diluted according to the instructions on the package. After keeping the solution for 5 minutes, it is thoroughly mixed again. The plaster is ready to use.

In addition to dry mixes, ready-to-use, homogeneous compositions that do not require stirring are sold in plastic containers. They are characterized by resistance to mildew and excellent property of preventing dirt from adhering to the surface of the finish. On continuous areas of large surfaces, plaster from the same production batch should be used.

The facades of any buildings finished with decorative plaster look elegant and well-groomed. Manufacturers produce ready-made mixtures with excellent adhesion to all types of surfaces. For climatic zones with extreme weather conditions, special compositions have been created that do not allow frosts, winds, numerous precipitations and high humidity to destroy the structure of the decorative coating.
